Bethesda puts The Elder Scrolls: Legends “on hold”

Bethesda has confirmed that new content development on The Elder Scrolls: Legends is “on hold for the foreseeable future” and that expansion plans already in the works for the collectible card game have been nixed.

Legends originally launched back in 2017, and hasn’t found much success in competing with the likes of Blizzard’s Hearthstone since its release. The fourth Legends expansion, Isle of Madness, arrived in January of 2019.

A post from Legends’ community manager Christian Van Hoose announced the news that further work on the game was being halted over the weekend:

“You can still download and play Legends on all existing platforms and compete online as well as in the single-player modes. We will also continue to support the game with monthly reward cards and regular in-game events. New expansions and other future content, however, are no longer under active development. We will continue to provide ongoing maintenance support.”

Van Hoose later thanked those who had chosen to stick with Legends.

“We are immensely grateful to work on The Elder Scrolls: Legends, to have you as a community,” he wrote, “and we sincerely appreciate the love and support you’ve given us.”
