Out now! Going back to the future in Wireframe #11

It's that time once again: the cybernetically augmented Wireframe issue 11 is available in stores and online from today, the 11 April. You'll be able to buy the magazine at your local supermarket or independent newsagent in the UK, or you can order a copy, subscribe, or even download a handy free PDF from this very site.

So what's inside? Well, you'll find all this and tonnes more:

Designer Don Bellenger talks to us about Black Future '88, a synth punk collision of Contra, roguelike and dystopian nightmare. We meet the developers who let us play among ruins, and find out why devastated cities and broken architecture are such a familiar sight in games. Oh, and then we check out SkateBIRD, an adorable tribute to Tony Hawk's Pro Skater - with feathers.

Elsewhere, we learn more about the localisation going on in Sega's Yakuza crime spin-off, Judgement, and find out about the cunning ways games were shared back in the 1980s.

We chat to Don Bellenger about his synth punk roguelike platformer, Black Future '88.

That still not enough goodness for you? Well, there's still more besides:

  • Paper prototyping: how paper and card can help you make better games
  • Recreate the block-smashing action of Breakout and Arkanoid
  • Project Starship X, a manic comic book shooter from Italy
  • Looking back at the work of Xenon and Speedball creators, The Bitmap Brothers

Then there's our usual mix of news, previews and reviews, including our verdicts on Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Hypnospace Outlaw and The Walking Dead: The Final Season. Hurrah!

The reliable allure of shattered skylines, busted boulevards and crumbling architecture in games.
