Hideo Kojima’s upcoming baffle-athon Death Stranding is officially complete after a last surge of crunch. The Kojima Productions Twitter account revealed the news today, along with a photo of Kojima holding the final master copy and giving a celebratory thumbs up.

“DEATH STRANDING is complete and has gone gold!! Hideo Kojima, the Kojima Productions team, everyone at Sony and Guerrilla, cast members; all put their heart and soul into it. Thanks for your support, we can’t wait to bring you a new ‘A HIDEO KOJIMA GAME’. Play it on Nov 8th!!”

Absolutely no chance of us not playing Death Stranding, they’ve no need to worry about it.

The game has been perplexing and thrilling prospective players in equal measure for many, many months, with each glimpse of Death Stranding inspiring yet more questions about its essential nature.

“Some people say it’s almost like the movie Alien, where you are gradually finding out what the whole world is about, what you can do and not do,” explained Kojima earlier this month. “Maybe it gets really fun when you have completed 50 percent of the game. The player, like in shooters and other genres, go into the game with a known rule and you think you know what a game is about. I didn’t want to have that feeling. Everyone should start from ground zero. Not knowing how to pick up and play the game. What I have shown makes you puzzled, but it all really makes sense when you play the game.”

In the near future, mysterious explosions have rocked the planet, setting off a series of supernatural events known as the Death Stranding. With spectral creatures plaguing the landscape, and the planet on the verge of a mass extinction, it’s up to Sam Bridges (Normal Reedus) to journey across the ravaged wasteland and save mankind from impending annihilation.
